AAM Seas'd the Day and made a splash at the Dragon Boat Challenge!

On Sunday 10th July the Seas the Day Crew took like fishes to water in what was a fabulous day! Cod Dylan kept spirits high in a sing-a-long and Rose delivered on her promise to sing ‘Baby Shark’.

Back at base, or rather Pam's Plaice, Pam the Prawn refuelled the crew with refreshments throughout the day. Alison held the fort at our fundraising stall on the other side of the River Ouse. With the help of our wonderful volunteers, we raised £190 and had lots of interesting chats with passers-by. A big thanks to everyone who came down and talked with us.

Out on the water, the Seas the Day crew did us proud by being one of the most inclusive teams taking part. It included project participants, their friends and family rowing among AAM staff and volunteers. York Rotary Club President Mary Lumley even hopped aboard for our first race!

Our oar-some crew improved on each race as the day went on. They managed to beat last year’s best time by a whopping 13.5 seconds! Sadly, it wasn’t enough to pip the other teams to the post. We did, however, come away with the Tail End Trophy, which we’ll take as a win!

What’s more, our guys managed to smash their target and raise £2,125! As nominated charities, Antibiotic Research UK and AAM will split one-third of the overall amount raised. The other two-thirds that each team raised will go to their nominated charity, meaning that everyone's a winner!
