Hands & Voices are tip top at Radix’s Big Tent of Ideas!
Hands & Voices were invited to kick off Radix’s Big Tent of Ideas festival on Friday 16th June in true AAM style, and that’s exactly what they did!
Taking place at Deans Park, the annual festival explores many themes and invites people and communities from all backgrounds to get involved in the wider discussion. This year, Programme Manager Hannah was invited to write a piece about creative learning and why our total communication approach is so important. So we were thrilled when Hands & Voices were invited to show the impact of our approach at the festival launch.
The sun was shining, everyone was smiling, and the choir were ready to rock and roll. Starting with some of their favourite songs, Hands & Voices showed festivalgoers how fun singing and signing can be.
They started by signing and signing four of their favourite songs for the crowd. Leading with ‘Let’s go fly a kite’ and ending with ‘Build me up Buttercup’, the choir’s summery set got everyone into the festival mood. Each song was chosen by the choir, and we think they got it spot on!
After a quick break, they were straight back to it, this time for an interactive workshop. Experts in their field, members of the choir taught the crowd a sign or two. And before we knew it, it was home time. How time flies when you’re having fun!
A massive thank you to the Radix team for inviting us, to BBC Radio York presenter Elly Florentini for the brilliant introductions.
