Our Fundraising Heroes - Claire

We’re chatting with another one of our fab fundraising heroes– this time it’sHands & Voices superstar Claire.

From singing and signing at AAM busking events to leading outreach workshops, Claire’s done it all, and still had time to fundraise! We wanted to know about her favourite events, how she fundraised andwhat she’splanning next.

Here she is speaking with Marketing and Community Fundraising Coordinator, Lauren.

You’re a member of our ace Hands & Voices choir. How long have you been a part of AAM’s projects?

I’ve been a member of Hands & Voices for about 6 years and pre-covid I was part of Movers & Shakers too!

Whats been your favourite AAM activity, project, or event that youve been a part of and why?

I enjoy everything, but I especially enjoy teaching the workshops. It makes me feel proud to be part of it. I’ve also taught some of my friends while on holiday and I enjoyed the singing and signing entertainment at my big birthday party.

You take part in our weekly Hands & Voices sessions, busk alongside the IMPs choir, and head out in the community as part of our Outreach workshops. All of which is ace! What do you like to do in your downtime?

My downtime includes colouring, swimming, and going to the gym - which I have to do after I’ve eaten out with my boyfriend and friends!

Youre no stranger to fundraising. Between personal challenges and AAM busking events, youve raised a huge amount for AAM over the years. What's been your favourite fundraising challenge or event?

My favourite fundraising event was my 40th birthday party, which was last yearMy favourite fundraising challenge was doing the 2.6 challenge. The hardest part was the weather, but it didn’t stop me from [wheeling myself up and down a long driveway while singing ‘500 Miles’ by the Proclaimers] three times a day for 10 days even in the wind and rain!

What did you find was the best way of going about raising funds?

The best way of raising funds I found was setting up a JustGiving page, as well as word of mouth.

We're so grateful for your support. Do you think you'll be setting your sights on any challenges for 2023 or will you be taking a well-deserved break?

This year I’ll be encouraging my dad to give to AAM instead of presents, as he also has a big birthday.
