We Are AAM - Cathy

This month we got to have a chat with our newest staff member, Cathy. Cathy joined us in November to take on the role of Learning and Participation Coordinator for our IMPs programme. We're loving having her as part of the AAM team.

How long have you worked at AAM and what do you do?

I’ve been at AAM for a few months now and I’m the Learning and Participation Coordinator for our IMPs (Inclusive Music Project). That means I organise all the paperwork for the project, keep in touch with all the participants, and develop new parts of the project such as organising holiday clubs and performances. As part of my role, I’ve recently trained as an Arts Award Advisor and I’m excited about rolling out Arts Award across the project for our young people.

What do you enjoy most about working with AAM?

I love being busy and organised so this type of job suits me down to the ground! I also love being involved in the IMPs performances, seeing the participants grow and develop into confident performers is truly inspiring. It doesn’t take much persuasion to get me to join in with the singing either and I’m enjoying learning some sign language as I go!

What did you do before working here?

I’ve done all sorts over the years, from managing projects for small businesses and working in a school office to freelance writing and working for the police as a press officer! I love jobs with plenty of variety and my current role is different every day. Outside of work I run a holiday art club for kids and love getting involved in anything creative that’s happening in and around York.

Tell us one random fact about yourself!

As a young teen, I think Ant OR Dec once asked me out at Kings Cross Station…I sometimes wonder what my life would have been like had I agreed!?
