A Ticket to Ride – A journey like no other!

On Saturday 8th July, our participants and Copmanthorpe Community Choir headed down to Tang Hall Explore to put on a show like no other. There were soundscapes, participant-led signing and even a bit of audience participation! It was so much fun and there were plenty of smiles throughout the day.

Senior IMPs kicked off the show with a few AAM favourites before leading us on a journey on the IMPs Express. The song came out of an IMPs Holiday Club that they liked so much, they took it and added their own Senior IMPs twist.

Movers & Shakers were next up and put on another AAM-azing performance. It’s hard to believe that this is only the third time they’ve joined our other projects on stage. Participants used percussion instruments to take us on a musical adventure before donning pink cowboy hats for a bit of line dancing! It was great fun to see so many people joining in from the crowd, too!

Our friends from Copmanthorpe Community Choir joined us to share a few of their favourite numbers. Did you know that Senior IMPs and Movers & Shakers leader Kate Pearson also leads Copmanthorpe Community Choir?

That’s right! She worked with the choir to create the beautiful vocal arrangements we heard on the day. We’re so happy they came along to perform, and we always love having them back.

Next up was our Hands & Voices choir. They put their singing and signing skills to the test by inviting participants to lead their favourite songs of the term. We had songs about eating ice creams in Italy, the streets of London, and magnificent flying machines. They took us all around the world without the audience ever leaving their seats! It was fab.

Finally, it was time to head home and what better way to round off an excellent day than getting everyone back on stage? They sang ‘Take me home’ with an added Yorkshire twist followed by ‘Ticket to Ride’ which went down a storm.

A huge thanks to everyone who came down to support, perform and volunteer and a massive thank you to everyone who donated on the day. A special thanks goes to all the staff at Tang Hall Explore who kept everyone fuelled with tea and cake.

We can’t wait for the next performance in October. Until then, you can support our projects by heading to our donation page
