Give our projects a go this November

We’re giving you a chance to give our projects a go this November as part of York Disability Week. The week runs from Monday 25th November to Sunday 2nd December with a host of activities, talks and events taking place in and around York.

Ever wanted to come along to our Monday night Inclusive Music Projects (IMPs), but weren’t sure what to expect? Do you know someone who might want to make new friends on a Wednesday afternoon at Movers & Shakers? Looking for a creative way to reduce stress and anxiety? Thought about joining an inclusive community choir but aren’t sure where to start?

Well, as part of York Disability Week, we’re offering free spaces at IMPs, Movers & Shakers, iMUSE and Hands & Voices. All you need to do is book your spot in advance so we can manage numbers. Take a look at what’s on offer and book your place below.

What’s on offer

IMPs

Our Senior IMPs is for young people aged 11+. They meet every Monday evening during term time at Acomb Methodist Church. Each session they’ll catch up with friends, play musical games and write new music together. The great thing is, you don’t need to have any experience in music to take part and everyone is welcome.

When: Monday 25th November 6 pm-7.30 pm

Where: Acomb Methodist Church, Front Street, Acomb, YO24 3BX

Head to our IMPs page to find out more, and to book your free place for Monday 25th November email Hannah.hardcastle@aamedia.org.uk.

Movers & Shakers

When: Wednesday 27th November 1.45 pm-2.45 pm and 3.15 pm and 4.15 pm

Where: New Earswick Folk Hall, Hawthorne Terrace, YO32 4AQ

iMUSE for Wellbeing

Here’s your chance to try our 1-to-1 multisensory therapeutic iMUSE experience for yourself. It provides a safe space where you can relax, forget the outside world, feel anxiety and stress levels reduce, and take control of your wellbeing.

Sessions last for 30 minutes and our facilitator works with you to find out which sounds, music, and visuals work best for you. They then use these to personalise your iMUSE experience so it’s tailor-made for you.

When: Wednesday 27th November 9 am-6.30 pm

Where: New Earswick Folk Hall, Hawthorne Terrace, YO32 4AQ

Head to our iMUSE for Wellbeing page to find out more, and to book your free place for Wednesday 27th November email Hannah.hardcastle@aamedia.org.uk.

Hands & Voices

Hands & Voices has been running for over 25 years and is our longest-running project. The sessions are fully inclusive, and anyone can join in the fun either online or in person.
